Hola!
Saludas a Costa Rica!
I donīt think Iīll
get to the internet cafe again to look before I get home, but Iīll
check it out first thing when I am back.
The Caribbean coast is
much more humid than the Pacific, so it was a sticky trip in that
regard, but good nonetheless. The food there is focussed more on
the ocean, and much use of coconut oil and milk made me think I
was eating sun tan lotion! On Saturday night we had risotto mariscos
(rice with sea food) and it came with whole crabs. Messy, but very
nice. ĻMore beautiful sceneryĻas my friend Phyllis said about Wales
several years ago, but true here for sure.
I hope the photos I took of the hotel are good, I didnīt
sent one this time because Roberto is too busy to let me have much
time picking and choosing, but I can put more up when I get home.
We lived in a jungle garden
for the weekend! And Mom, there were land crabs! (small ones) I
saw more new birds, including a falcon that is on the website that
our guide thought might be one not seen since 1986, but I donīt
think so! Iīll have to try to identify it before I get home. Also,
a pale billed woodpecker that looks like the ivory bill that is
extinct in US (and like the pileated, too) More sloths, some with
babies, the beautiful blue morpho butterfly, and leaf cutter ants.
I have a film of them, and we also saw ants carrying flowers instead
of leaves and decided they are Martha Stewart ants. It was a good
trip to end my time here because there was much time to just BE,
and relax.
Tomorrow I think I am finally going to see Vulcan Poas,
the most active of all the active volcanoes in Costa Rica. I am
hoping that the weather is clear enough to make the trip. (and wishing
I could bring some of this back with me....)
Homework now, and into the homestretch.
Adios,
Noel

If you want to email me
at the address this comes from, the message will be printed out
and given to me.
And, if you want to call me, the number is (506) 265-5280, and I
think the international code for Costa Rica is 011, but you can
find that in the phone book.
I am at school from 7:30 until 5 or so, but you can call in the
evenings (I do plan to take the weekend tours, and some daily tours
run until 6ish) but not late, bed time is by 9 (and check out the
time zone. I thought it was the same, but I think we are one hour
behind you.
Hasta luego!
Blessings and love to you all,
Noel.
ps, when I hit "send" I was told that there was no
