The Reverend Donna J. Larson Trebilcox has accepted a call to become the rector of St. George’s Episcopal Church in Lee, MA.  Rev. Trebilcox comes to St. George’s from Trinity Episcopal Church in Easton, PA where she served for two years as a curate after graduation from seminary.  She began her new ministry with us on Sunday Sept. 17, 2006.

St. George’s called Rev. Trebilcox for her professional background in congregational development which serves the need for health and growth in a congregation in the context of the community it serves.  Her background and experience in teaching, in worship and liturgy, in social justice and outreach ministries and in pastoral care are also important in serving the needs of this congregation and community.

Before becoming a priest of the Episcopal Church, Rev. Trebilcox taught high school English for 28 years.  She also coached interscholastic basketball, softball and volleyball, and she served as advisor to the high school newspaper, the forensics team and the diversity club.  Rev. Trebilcox is a fellow of the National Writing Institute and she has led writing workshops for teaching and business professionals.  She is also a graduate of Leadership Wilkes-Barre, a Chamber of Commerce program which prepares business and professional persons for service to their community.  Rev. Trebilcox earned a bachelors degree from the State University of New York at Oneonta and she has two masters degrees, one from Lehigh University in teaching students with special needs and a Master of Divinity from The General Theological Seminary in Manhattan.   She is married to Harry Trebilcox and she has three grown children, Cristen Carol in Wilkes-Barre, PA, John Mark in Lebanon, NH, and Patricia Anne in Easton, PA.

Rev. Trebilcox brings a life-long and varied experience of lay ministry in Lutheran and Methodist denominations before she became an Episcopalian.  She has also been an active participant in civil rights and social justice issues over the years and she has been a recent participant in Jewish, Muslim and Christian dialogues.

Rev. Trebilcox has begun working with the leadership of St. George’s parish on the needs of worship and liturgy, on programs for education and spiritual formation of people of all ages, on outreach ministries and on pastoral care.  She is looking forward to participating in the life of the wider community of Lee and the surrounding area.  Rev. Trebilcox’s ministry, both as a lay person and a priest, has always been welcoming and inclusive and she looks forward to welcoming and including newcomers in the community life and ministries of St. George’s Episcopal Church.
